Vikings could extend one of their key offensive linemen soon
Could Brian O'Neill be next to be extended by the Minnesota Vikings?
If you can lock down both your left and right tackles to extensions, you do it, especially if both guys are deserving of extensions. Luckily for the Minnesota Vikings, they have already secured the extension for Christian Darrisaw, and Brian O'Neill could be next to sign a long-term deal. But, while the Vikings work their magic on the salary cap, his extension could be put on pause, but it appears to be in the plans.
ESPN's Kevin Seifert, in a recent article , reports that O'Neill's extension and an extension for wide receiver Jordan Addison are deals that need to be done in the near future, but have already been budgeted in. While Addison might be up for debate among fans due to his litany of off-field issues and poor performance on the field last season, no one can argue that an extension for O'Neill should not be given. O'Neill, 30, was drafted in the second round by the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 and spent his entire career there.
O'Neill won rookie of the year in his class and has been nominated to the Pro Bowl two times: 2021 and 2024. He has played in 124 career games, including at least 14 in each of his nine seasons in the NFL.
