Otega Oweh joins elite company with NCAA Tournament performance vs. Santa Clara
Oweh’s performance today was one for the books.
Otega Oweh had a fantastic performance to lead Kentucky to a victory over Santa Clara in the Round of 64. Oweh’s deep three to send the game into overtime will go down as an all-time great shot in Kentucky lore, but overall, Oweh had an excellent performance for Kentucky, scoring 35 points while pulling down 8 rebounds and dishing out 7 assists. If you look throughout NCAA Tournament history, very few players have put together a performance with those kind of numbers.
UK Sports Network Statistician Corey Price noted that only three other players have put up those numbers in tournament history. Those players: Oscar Robertson, Bill Bradley, and Larry Bird. List of players to have at least 35 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in an @MarchMadnessMBB game: – @OtegaOweh , @KentuckyMBB vs.
Santa Clara (today) – Larry Bird, Indiana State vs. DePaul (March 24th, 1979) – Bill Bradley, Princeton vs. Providence (March 13th, 1965) – Oscar… — Corey Price (@coreyp08) March 20, 2026 Pretty elite company to be in for Oweh, if you ask me.
Oweh carried the Wildcats offensively, getting to the rim and coming up with several clutch baskets at crucial moments in the game. Not only that, he fought on the glass and was able to find his teammates in key situations as well. This was certainly a tournament performance to remember for Oweh.
