UCF basketball coach Johnny Dawkins is entering the final year of his contract after March Madness. The two sides have discussed a new deal.

Fresh off their first March Madness appearance in seven years, the UCF Knights' next order of business could be quickly locking up their head coach. Johnny Dawkins , 62, is set to enter the final year of his current contract โ€” a two-year extension signed after the 2023-24 campaign. According to an executive summary of the deal, provided by UCF's athletics department, Dawkins earned $2.

1 million this past season, plus a $50,000 bonus for the Knights' at-large selection into the NCAA Tournament. He is due $2. 2 million for 2026-27, though the contract is not guaranteed and the school would not need to pay any sort of buyout to make a change.

Terry Mohajir, UCFโ€™s vice president and director of athletics, said the two sides have held discussions about an extension. "You guys know I love UCF," Dawkins said. "I have been here for over a decade.

Of course, I don't handle those things. All I was thinking about was winning this game here today. So I haven't had a chance to think about anything other than that.
