Lincoln, Huron to meet for class ‘AA’ state crown

RAPID CITY, S. D. (KELO) — The stage is set for the class ‘AA’ state championship as Lincoln and Huron will cross paths Saturday for the crown.

The top-seed and unbeaten Patriots had to win a close game in Friday night’s semifinals. They edged out four-seed Harrisburg 53-48. Sam DeGroot led the way for Lincoln scoring a game high 24 points.

Brody Schafer added 11. The second semifinal saw another strong second half performance by Huron. The Tigers pulled away from O’Gorman in the quarterfinals Thursday and did the same to Roosevelt in the semifinals.

Huron earned a 53-44 win. Two players scored in double figures, with SDSU commit Blake Ellwein scoring a game high 23 points. Lincoln and Huron will play for the crown Saturday at 6:45 mountain time.
