Where is Queens University located?
Queens made it to the Big Dance in its first eligible year. So I guess we should know where the Royals are coming from. Is it New York?
Queens University took the most direct path possible to March Madness. The Royals were a Division II NCAA Tournament regular across 25 seasons before transitioning up to college basketball's biggest stage in 2022. Less than four years later -- and in the very season in which their probationary status as a Division I member ran out -- Queens is headed to the Big Dance.
The Royals won the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, toppling regular season co-champions Austin Peay and Central Arkansas to claim a 15 seed in the 2026 tournament. They'll have a difficult task in the opening round against an accomplished, veteran Purdue team. Queens played five opponents from Power 5 Conferences this winter.
It went 0-5 with each loss coming by at least 20 points. But the Royals reversed trends by beating the Bears and Governors in the conference tournament after going 0-3 against them in the regular season. Victory isn't assured for the Boilermakers.
Which means we should probably figure out where Queens is. Queens is located in Charlotte, North Carolina It's only about three miles south of the downtown center of the city. The school is set to merge with Elon University, based in Elon, NC and about 100 miles northeast of Charlotte, in the summer of 2026.
