Yankees option Jasson Domínguez to Triple-A

The Yankees announced the decision to option Jasson Domínguez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, a decision that doesn’t come as a surprise. Right-handers Kervin Castro and Yerry de los Santos also got optioned to Triple-A. Catchers Ali Sánchez and Payton Henry and outfielder Kenedy Corona were re-assigned to minor league camp.

The chances of Domínguez starting the 2026 season in the Bronx became unlikely after general manager Brian Cashman said last month the 23-year-old would benefit from regular playing. With Aaron Judge, Trent Grisham and Cody Bellinger slated to play everyday in the outfield, Domínguez had no path to daily playing time with the big league squad. “If everything stays the same, we’ll be forced to determine what’s our best course of action to help this team be impactful.

I would concede it’s in his best interest to be getting everyday reps,” the general manager said in February. “So we’ll just have to wait and see how the spring shakes out, who’s standing, and then we’ll make the appropriate decisions when we have our meetings close to the end of the camp. ” The team’s signing of 34-year-old Randal Grichuk foreshadowed Domínguez’s eventual fate, too.

Domínguez, who slashed . 257/. 331/.

388 with 10 homers and 47 RBI in 2025, could possibly find himself back in the Bronx if needed. Giancarlo Stanton, the team’s designated hitter, has dealt with several injuries in recent seasons with the Bombers. If Stanton goes down, the Yankees could look to Dominguez or veteran Paul Goldschmidt to fill the void at DH.
