Brandt Snedeker, Joel Dahmen made Valspar cut. Defending champ didn't

Yahoo Sports

The Valspar Championship started with 135 players but now it's on to the weekend without a few notable names.

The Valspar Championship goes to the weekend after the 36-hole cut on Friday reduced the field from 135 golfers at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida. The PGA Tour cut rule for the event is top 65 and ties and while some big names are moving on, several others are not. Who's leading the 2026 Valspar Championship?

Sungjae Im leads by one over David Lipsky. Doug Ghim and Chandler Blanchet are tied for third, two shots back. Meanwhile, 45-year-old Brandt Snedeker made his first cut since the RSM Classic to end the FedEx Cup Fall series last November.

Another name to make the cut: Joel Dahmen, who shot 72-70 and is at even par. He was on the alternate list until Tuesday night when Max Greyseman withdrew. "I had some intel that a player might be withdrawing late," Dahmen said.

"And I think Monday night I got to first alternate, so I knew I was going to be in the field. But until a person withdraws you don't get a courtesy car, which helps a lot when you have the family. " Cars were just something Dahmen had to deal with this week.
