According to those involved, the court’s goal was to establish a structured plan for Hearns’ care while also stabilizing his financial situation moving forward. Hearns, widely known as “The Hitman,” remains one of boxing’s most decorated champions, having won world titles across five weight divisions during a career that spanned nearly three decades. His impact on the sport—and his status as a Detroit icon—has kept him in the public eye long after his retirement.

Attorney Mike Smith, who represents Hearns’ son, described the outcome as a positive step after what he characterized as complicated family dynamics. “It was a really great resolution,” Smith said, noting that discussions took place privately with the judge to reach an agreement. He added that outstanding tax matters have now been resolved and confirmed that Hearns is not involved in any current litigation.
