Is Cleveland trying to plan that far ahead?

Browns could be looking to change NFL rule for Arch Manning reason originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here . The Cleveland Browns have an opportunity to really improve their team during the NFL Draft, but it sounds like Cleveland also wants to make some changes to what the league already has in place.

Reports indicate that the Browns have asked the league to allow them to trade draft picks five years out, instead of three, which is the current rule. With long-term uncertainty at quarterback, one name that continues to surface in those conversations is Arch Manning. According to Anthony Moeglin of Browns Wire, Cleveland could even be pushing for this rule change that would allow teams to trade draft picks five years into the future for Manning.

โ€œThe one that the Browns are preparing for is a move to the top of the draft to get a quarterback next year. They, and several other teams, are posturing for the opportunity to be high enough in next year's draft to be able to select one of the many quarterbacks that will be in the draft. The quiet part here is if owner Jimmy Haslam really wants to get Arch Manning and will do anything to get him, then Cleveland will have to be willing to pay up to do it.

โ€ Itโ€™s an interesting idea, but it shows the reality of todayโ€™s NFL, and it probably isn't wrong. If Jimmy Haslam is truly interested in landing Manning, he'll probably be willing to do whatever it takes to land the Texas Star.
