How long is Thomson's leash?

Rob Thomson and the Philadelphia Phillies have won a lot of baseball games in recent years, but he’s definitely on the hot seat.

Sadly for Thomson, there’s just no other way to put it. In fact, he should’ve been on the hot seat last season, if we’re being honest. However, since taking over, Thomson has really done a good job.

He brought the Phillies to a World Series and NLCS and has arguably been the best team in the NL East. That alone should help his case, but this is Philadelphia. There’s also a side that the Phillies’ core is getting older, and they can only run it back so many times.

Dayn Perry of CBS Sports pointed out that while Thomson has done plenty of good, there’s still a scenario where he doesn’t have a job if his team plays poorly, saying that he’s on the hot seat. “Thomson and his steady hand have piloted the Phillies to four playoff berths in as many seasons, two straight division titles, and a pennant in 2022. That said, the core is aging and there's a bit of a staleness surrounding the organization as Dave Dombrowski's laudably consistent efforts to maintain a winning roster may have reached their upper limits.
