One vital position the Raiders must still address before the draft

Yahoo Sports

Many positions on the Raiders can probably wait for the draft to be addressed. But one particularly vital position still needs attention before then.

We are just over a month away from the start of the 2026 NFL Draft. And since the Raiders hold the number one overall pick, they are on the clock right now. But before that pick comes in, Las Vegas still has some extremely important business to take care of.

Particularly at the quarterback position. Last year's starter Geno Smith has been traded and backup Kenny Pickett was allowed to leave in free agency . Leaving Aidan O’Connell as the only quarterback on the roster.

The only thing O’Connell has ever proven is that he ain’t it. Probably not even as the primary backup. For many reasons, but not the least of which being that he is extremely slow and awkward, leading to hits and tackles that look like injuries waiting to happen.

This team is expected to make Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza the top pick in the draft in April. However, more is needed. They absolutely must bring in a veteran backup as well.
