Vikings bring back Carson Wentz to complete QB room

Yahoo Sports

The Vikings have a packed quarterback room now with the re-signing of Carson Wentz.

The Minnesota Vikings quarterback room got complicated last week when they signed Kyler Murray to a one-year deal to compete with J. J. McCarthy.

The team also still has 2025 UDFA Max Brosmer, but as he showed during the season, he may not be in the cards for the Vikings in 2026 and beyond. Having all those players present did not deter the team from bringing back another familiar name, Carson Wentz. NFL Media's Tom Pelissero reported on Thursday that the Vikings and Wentz had agreed to terms on a one-year deal to bring back the former North Dakota State star.

Wentz was brought in as a veteran backup option last year, and he seemingly returns to fulfill the same role once again. Wentz started five games for the Vikings in 2025 and had a record of 2-3. When he played, the offense saw a noticeable jump as the passing attack got more explosive, and they seemingly played with a new energy.

In total, he passed for 1,216 yards and six touchdowns, not uber impressive numbers, but they were a step up from what they had. This article originally appeared on Vikings Wire: NFL Free Agency: Vikings bring back veteran Carson Wentz at QB
