Kahnle pitched for Team Israel at the WBC and impressed enough to land a deal with the Red Sox. Although he has plenty of MLB experience, Red Sox insider Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic predicts he will begin the year in Triple-A. โ€œSome other relievers who donโ€™t show up here: right-handers Ryan Watson, Tommy Kanhle, Noah Song and Tayron Guerrero,โ€ McCaffrey wrote in an article published on Friday.

โ€œโ€ฆ Kahnle signed with the Red Sox on a minor-league deal this week; while thereโ€™s an outside chance he makes the big-league roster right away, he has yet to pitch in a game and could start the year in Triple A as bullpen depth. โ€ Kahnle will likely need some time in the minors to get some live pitching reps, and could be an option for the Red Sox shortly after Opening Day. The veteran right-hander went 1-5 with a 4.

43 ERA in 66 games last season with the Detroit Tigers. Kahnle has pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, and Colorado Rockies, with a 3. 61 ERA in 456 career MLB games.
