The Eagles suffer a few hits in free agency and earn a few wins, but they are left just outside the top ten on a recent NFL power ranking.

This is the reality of life in today's NFL. Success is fleeting, and perception can shift almost overnight. Then again, that has probably always been the case.

One season, you're the hunted, the standard every franchise is chasing. Next, you're being questioned, analyzed, and in some cases, doubted. The Philadelphia Eagles know this better than anyone.

Twice, they've entered an NFL season as the defending Super Bowl champions. In both instances, things didn't go according to plan the following season. That shift feels especially abrupt given how recently they sat at the top of the league's hierarchy.

This time around, there's some concern around the fan base. Three times in five seasons, Nick Sirianni's Eagles have been bounced from the NFL Playoffs in the Wild Card Round. Fortunately, Philadelphia qualified for the Super Bowl during those other two seasons, so there's that.
