Braintree Town goalkeeper Mason Terry has set his sights on playing in the EFL, the Premier League and ultimately representing his country. The 21-year-old, on loan from West Ham, admits he has never been shy in setting himself challenging targets. But after 15 man-of-the-match awards, a goal and last weekend an assist for the struggling National League side, he has definitely made an impact.
"My end goal is to represent my country, England," he told BBC Essex. "Obviously it's to play in the Premier League for West Ham United and for the next six to 18 months it is to finish the season really strong and then be playing in the EFL. That is my next goal.
" His goal came in the National League Cup quarter final against Truro City when his 92nd minute equaliser took the tie, which Braintree eventually lost on penalties, to extra time. Last weekend he provided an assist to goalscorer Lewis Walker against Morecambe as Braintree grabbed a vital point in their relegation battle in the 97th minute with a 1-1 draw. "I just had a feeling in myself I was going to be the hero again," he said.
"Obviously after scoring at Truro about a month ago I just thought it was going to be me again. "This time I was the provider to Lewis Walker who finished it really well. "
