NYU had beaten its previous two opponents by an average of 33.5 points.

One of college basketball’s longest winning streaks has finally come to an end. With their 60-52 loss to Scranton on Thursday, NYU’s women had a 91-game winning streak snapped. It was an unfortunate time for NYU to suffer the loss, as it occurred in the Division III Final Four.

With the win, Scranton advanced to the final, where it will take on Denison on Saturday. NYU found itself in trouble immediately during the contest, falling behind 30-18 by halftime. While the team rallied in the third quarter, eventually cutting the lead to single digits, Scranton managed to hold them off, picking up the win.

Following the defeat, NYU coach Meg Barber credited Scranton for playing a strong game , per NYU’s website. "Give Scranton credit," said Head Coach Meg Barber. “They got out from the jump and we played from behind, which is a bit unusual for us.

But, I thought we showed a lot of resilience and really hung in for four solid quarters. " The victory snapped NYU’s 91-game win streak, the second-longest winning streak in NCAA history, just behind UConn’s 111-game streak. UConn accomplished that feat between 2014 and 2017.
