That means they’re doing their due diligence on this year’s rookie class. They’re likely keeping their magnifying glass on the defensive players, but they’re talking to the offensive incoming rookies, too. According to sources, the Bengals have a scheduled visit coming up with Indiana Hoosiers running back Kaelon Black.
Black is coming out of the Hoosiers’ first championship season and was a standout at the Senior Bowl this offseason. The Bengals have a running back room they’re happy with. Chase Brown has become one of the most explosive backs in the AFC, and Samaje Perine has been a reliable pass protector and third-down back.
Tahj Brooks, who’s entering his second year in the league, has also earned his spot in the rotation. If the Bengals are going to draft a running back, it’ll be in Day 3 when the league burns through rounds 4-7, and that’s where analysts believe Black will be taken off the board.
