Where does Texas A&M rank in home runs among SEC teams?
Through 20 games, Texas A&M's 39 home runs is tied for third in the SEC, while the Aggies will host Georgia (69 home runs) this weekend.
Texas A&M (17-3) took care of business this week after defeating Texas State 9-6 after trailing 4-0 early in the game, rebounding from Sunday's loss to Oklahoma, and will now host Georgia (18-4) during the second weekend of SEC play, looking to enter next week with a winning record in the conference. While the offense looked the part in all three games, leaving Norman with a 1-2 SEC record was not ideal, especially after entering the weekend with just one loss on the year. Still, second-year head coach Michael Earley is now dealing with the loss of senior reliever Josh Stewart , who sustained an injury last Friday after a handful of pitches.
On paper, Earley will continue to utilize his starting rotation, hoping all three arms can last at least five or six innings, while junior reliever Clayton Freshcorn's impressive start to the season will now take center stage, and several young pitchers will need to step up for the Aggies to have a shot at making the postseason. Still, Texas A&M 's battling lineup is much too talented, especially with transfers Chris Hacopian and Wesley Jordan back in the lineup, not to lead the Aggies back to the regional round, and through 20 games, Texas A&M possesses the power and consistency to get the job done, which was on full display during Sunday's 12-11 loss to the Sooners. Thanks to star junior outfielder Caden Sorrell's 11 home runs in 19 appearances this season, Texas A&M is tied for third in the SEC with 39 home runs, but will now face a Georgia lineup that has already belted 69 home runs through 22 games.
Texas A&M will host Georgia on Friday at 6:00 p. m. , available to stream on SEC Network+.
