'No party comes out of this looking good' - fans on Schmeichel

Yahoo Sports

[BBC] We asked for your views after Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel announced he may have played his last game of football as he requires two surgeries and faces up to a year out. Here are some of your comments: Hugh: Clearly the club, medical staff, coaching staff, team manager and the player are all culpable in what appears to be situation that could have been clearly avoided. No party comes out of this looking good given the damage that has already been done.

James: Kasper has been an excellent keeper everywhere he has been, he has been a great servant to Celtic and it really is a shame for things to go this way for him as I feel it is undeserving of a player of his character and quality. Every mistake has been evident in performance but also you can see how much it has hurt him. Credit to him for trying to soldier on but there comes a point where your own pursuit of glory costs those around you and this has very much been the case this season.

Arthur: Schmeichel isn't to blame for his injury. Three different management teams at Celtic should have taken him out of the first-team firing line this season. Managers are there to make big decisions for the good of the team.

Viljami Sinisalo isn't a novice: his time is now. Gerry: Top keeper and one that was a great addition to Celtic. However, from a professional standpoint clearly he, or Martin O'Neill, or the coaches, should have recognised the need to treat the injury.

Playing him may have caused more damage and unfortunately may have brought his career to arguably a premature end. Hoping he makes a speedy recovery. Jack: While I do sympathise with Kasper Schmeichel, both himself and staff at the club need to take some accountability for the sub-par performances and clangers we've had to witness over the past year.
