Local high schoolers shattering state and national powerlifting records

HINTON, WV (WVNS) – Powerlifters from Summers County Comprehensive High School have been lifting banners by the dozens over the past few years, as they shatter state and national records with Bobcat Powerlifting. Local gymnast signs with Wheeling to compete in Collegiate Acro & Tumbling These athletes with Bobcat Powerlifting have competed locally, as well as in other states, such as North Carolina and Georgia. At each of these meets, these powerlifters will squat, bench, and deadlift for a chance to break state and national records in both age groups and weight classes.

Some of their powerlifters holds 20 or more state records – like Natasha Naik, who also has 3 national records in deadlift and bench. “This has really changed my life in so many ways. I have met so many good people at meets.

So many people support me because I am younger and I am a girl and definitely just changed me as a person and changed my passion as a sport,” said Naik, who is a cheerleader for the school. “We’re just there to have fun, a good time, and break some records,” said Brady Cook, another powerlifter. “I just enjoy this.

It helped me open up socially and make more friends,” added Marshall Mann. “It is fun, you know, just bettering yourself with your buddies, your coach, and everything it is just great time,” said Clayton Berry, who is also on the football team. Clayton Berry holds several national records, as well, plus even more state records – while Marshall Mann and Brady Cook have claimed some state records.
