UNC basketball falls apart vs VCU in March Madness, loses in NCAA first round

GREENVILLE, S. C. — UNC basketball had no answer for Terrence Hill Jr.
in an 82-78 overtime loss to VCU in the opening round of March Madness . Hill knocked down the go-ahead 3-pointer with 15 seconds left to lift the 11th-seeded Rams (28-7) to a comeback win against the sixth-seeded Tar Heels (24-9) in the men’s 2026 NCAA Tournament . It was UNC's first loss in an opening game under fifth-year coach Hubert Davis.
