Huskers TWIS Notes: Alexis Jensen Is the Big 10 Pitcher of the Week! (And Other Softball News)
Your new column for weekly softball news only. It just didn’t seem fair to squeeze it in with the weekend preview.
Introducing TWIS Notes! (One Time Intro) From 1977-2008, in its original incarnation, there was a show called TWIB (This Week in Baseball) Notes with Mel Allen. It was basically your only baseball highlight reel, a half-hour show with clips of the week’s games along with fun facts and unusual plays.
For a deeper dive check its Wikipedia page, but basically I’m stealing its acronym to make life a little easier. Here’s an early episode: Instead of cramming everything into the weekly preview, I’m going to take the weekly notes at the top of that article and make it a separate This Week In (Husker) Softball article. Separating the two articles will make the preview a little shorter and allow us to expand a little on the weekly news.
More importantly, I can publish the preview much more quickly. So here’s the first Corn Nation TWIS notes – any compliments, critiques, suggestions or thoughts are welcome in the comments! Lex Takes Home B1G Pitcher of the Week Award On Monday, Husker freshman Alexis Jensen was recognized as the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week.
In NU’s weekend sweep of Michigan, Jensen grabbed a 2-0 record in the circle winning a start on Friday and catching the “W” in relief on Saturday. She tossed a team-high 9. 0 innings and struck out 12 batters while walking only 1.
