Nebraska basketball claimed the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history by defeating the Troy Trojans 76-47 on Thursday afternoon. This was a game where the Huskers started hot and never looked back. Pryce Sandfort was absolutely electric on the afternoon, scoring 23 points.
He was 7-of-13 from the field and 7-of-12 from beyond the arc. Jamarques Lawrence and Braden Frager each had 13 points. As a team, the Huskers shot 25-of-65 from the field, 14-of-39 from the 3-point line and 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Troy was only able to shoot 13-of-46 from the floor, 8-of-28 from beyond the arc and 13-of-14 from the charity stripe. Nebraska improved to 27-6 on the season and set a new school record for victories in a season. The 1990-91 team held the previous record of 26 wins.
Nebraska will play on Saturday against the winner of the game between No. 5 seed Vanderbilt and No. 12 seed McNeese.
