The best fit for the NFL's top remaining free agents
Things have settled down from a very crazy first week of NFL free agency, but a few names remain who could fit well on just about any roster. Let's take a look at the best fit for the top NFL free agents looking for new homes for the 2026 season. Joey Bosa, Edge (Free Agent) - Detroit Lions This could be a win-win for the Detroit Lions.
He made over $13 million in 2025, but his play dipped a bit during the latter part of the season, decreasing his value, which means the Lions could get him on the (relatively) cheap to pair him with edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson. He is 30 years old now, but the dip in play could be several things. The Lions may take a chance on him in hopes that it is correctable.
Kirk Cousins, QB (Free Agent) - Las Vegas Raiders / Pittsburgh Steelers Oh, the Kirk Cousins drama train keeps rolling on. Obviously, the Steelers need a veteran if Aaron Rodgers doesn't come back or continues to drag his feet on a decision. It wouldn't be fair to bring in Cousins, only for Rodgers to return and regain the starting job when Cousins is clearly still capable and wants to start.
The Las Vegas Raiders make sense as well due to them drafting Francisco Mendoza with the 1st pick in the 2026 draft, but possibly being unable to start immediately. He would serve well sitting behind Cousins, just as a few other greats did. Vegas may be the ticket for Cousins.
Deebo Samuel, WR (Free Agent) - Carolina Panthers / Atlanta Falcons Basically, anywhere in the NFC South, Deebo Samuel would be a good fit. The Falcons aren't as deep as they were after losing Darnell Mooney, and could use a weapon like Deebo for whoever the QB is going to be. The Panthers are an absolute up-and-coming team that has great depth at wide receiver, and Samuel would fit that mold perfectly.
