Jaylen Brown reflects on making history with Boston Celtics
"I’m very humbled and very grateful to be in the position I’m in," said Brown.
Jaylen Brown has been on a tear of sorts in a season he is already playing like a bona fide MVP candidate, scoring 41 and 32 points in his last two games vs. the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors, respectively. In the most recent of those two tilts, the Georgia native moved from 12th place to 10th in all-time Celtics scorers, passing the likes of Boston luminaries Jo Jo White and Dave Cowens.
Officially in Hall of Fame territory with such peers, Brown opened up on his recent play and the milestone he set with it, saying he has been "seeing and reading the game and taking advantage of my opportunities. But yeah, I think that definitely ... slowed my pace down a little bit.
" "But today in the first half, they stuck to our shooters, because, out of respect for those guys, they shoot the ball incredibly well, and those 3s add up. So they were leaving me on the island, so I had to take advantage of that. " As to the history the Cal alum made vs.
the Dubs, Brown said "I’m very grateful. A lot of legends on that list who made big contributions to the Celtics, but also to the game of basketball. " "So, I’m very humbled and very grateful to be in the position I’m in.
