The Missouri Tigers have named Ole Miss Rebels transfer Austin Simmons as their starting quarterback, according to On3.

The Missouri Tigers have decided on their starting quarterback for the 2026 season. Ole Miss transfer Austin Simmons has won the starting job, according to On3. Simmons won it over redshirt senior transfer Nick Evers and redshirt sophomore Matt Zollers.

The redshirt junior transferred in from the Ole Miss Rebels. The former four-star prospect was originally the starter for the Rebels after Jaxson Dart declared for the 2025 NFL draft. The New York Giants selected him with the 25 th pick.

Dart led the SEC in passing yards (4,279) in 2024, so Simmons had some big shoes to fill in 2025. Unfortunately, Simmons sustained an ankle injury in a Week 3 win against Arkansas, allowing Ferris State Junior College transfer Trinidad Chambliss to take over as the starter.
