Nebraska basketball ends March Madness drought with rout of Troy
Nebraska basketball made history, securing its first-ever NCAA Tournament win by defeating Troy 76-47 on Thursday at Paycom Center in OKC.
Husker history was made Thursday in Oklahoma City. No. 4 seed Nebraska beat No.
13 Troy 76-47 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament . No longer will Nebraska be tagged with the forlorn distinction of being the only power program without an NCAA Tournament win. Chants of โ Husker Power โ and โ Go Big Red โ reverberated inside Paycom Center, which overflowed with Nebraska fans.
Pryce Sandfort drained seven 3-pointers. The Huskers led by as many as 30 points. Nebraska made more 3-point field goals (14) than Troy made field goals (13).
It was a 40-minute coronation for Fred Hoibergโs squad. Hoibergโs son, Sam, a starting guard for the Huskers, held up his fist to an arena full of adoring fans when he checked out with two minutes left. Nebraska was 0-8 all-time in the NCAA Tournament before Thursday.
