Mandatory Credit: Joseph Maiorana-Imagn Images | Joseph Maiorana-Imagn Images FIRST HALF ANALYSIS: This one started out almost completely opposite of what the “norm” was. Troy, who only shoots 30% from deep on the season, hit 3 of their first 4 attempts.
The Huskers meanwhile missed their first 4. The Huskers would start to create havoc defensively though, as the Trojans committed 3 turnovers in the first 3 minutes. Victor Valdes had a couple of baskets for the Trojans, which got off to a good start.
The Trojans kept the lead for the first 8 minutes, but Pryce Sandfort woke up. Sandfort would hit 5 shots from deep in the half, but a Sandfort personal 9-0 run gave Nebraska a lead it would not relinquish the rest of the half. Nebraska would dominate on the glass (I told you it wasn’t a “normal” half) and the Huskers used 17 second chance points to take a 41-25 lead into the break.
FIRST HALF STATS: Troy shot 7-21 for 33% from the floor. They went 4-12 for 33% from deep and 7-8 for 88% from the free-throw line. The Trojans collected 15 rebounds, 5 of which were offensive.
