The brothers began following in their father’s footsteps in sixth grade and eventually landed at his alma mater, Duke University, where both parents have remained a steady presence on the sidelines while the twins play for the Blue Devils. “I think he's only missed one game, so he basically has been to every game, especially with my mom too,” Cayden told PEOPLE in March 2026.

He told The Salt Lake Tribune in 2007 that she noticed him at a bookstore when he was an incoming 17-year-old freshman at Duke, and she was a 20-year-old senior. CeCe tracked him down in the student directory and asked him to dinner, Carlos recalled.
