Barcelona believe they can sign top attacking target for just €100 million this summer
Barcelona believe they can sign top attacking target for just €100 million this summer As we reach the final phase of the campaign, Barcelona must soon start making decisions as far as the future of their goalscoring department is concerned. Robert Lewandowski will turn 38 next season and has shown clear signs of decline. But the club are reportedly keen on holding on to him for another year and are ready to hand him a contract extension .
Ferran Torres, on the other hand, has struggled with goals since the turn of the year. But he will remain a part of the Barcelona team next season, having decided to stay at the club . Barcelona, though, are thinking ahead and remain keen on acquiring the services of top attacking target, Julian Alvarez.
Barcelona confident of signing Alvarez According to Cadena SER , signing Alvarez is undoubtedly one of the top priorities for newly reelected club president Joan Laporta. Will Alvarez join Barcelona this summer? (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images) While recent reports have indicated that the deal will be quite difficult for the Blaugrana due to their economic constraints, the club remain fairly confident.
As per the report, Barcelona believe they will be able to sign the Argentine international next summer and that too, for a fee of no more than €100 million. This is quite hard to believe given that Alvarez still has a long-term contract at Atletico Madrid, thus giving him a lot of leverage over the player’s future. Alvarez’s agent, meanwhile, hasn’t helped things either and has refused to publicly acknowledge the interest from Barcelona.
Laporta is currently waiting for Alvarez to take some initiative and try to push for a move to Catalonia, after which Barcelona will presumably kickstart their negotiation process. For now, though, a deal within €100 million looks unlikely.
