The Paisley club are looking for a new boss following Stephen Robinson's departure for Aberdeen last week. Coach Craig McLeish oversaw Sunday's 1-0 home defeat by Rangers and St Mirren are visiting Falkirk in their next Scottish Premiership fixture, on Saturday (15:00 GMT).

McGinn, 37, started his player career with the Buddies and returned for a second spell. He also coached the club's under-18s before joining McGlynn's backroom team at Falkirk last year. "There's obviously a connection that Stephen has been there as a player, he's probably a legend there," said manager McGlynn.

"Stephen has not given us any indication that that's on the agenda or not. "Because of the connection between the club and his status at that particular club, then it's easy to put two and two together and come up with whatever, so I can totally understand it.

"That's the first thing I thought of when Stephen Robinson went away but there's been nothing materialised, so there's no substance to give it a great deal of merit, time, whatever, because there's not been any contact. " Falkirk want top-six place 'done and dusted' Falkirk have all but sealed their first ever top-six finish in the Premiership. With three games to go until the split, the Bairns have a nine-point advantage over seventh-placed Dundee United and are 10 goals better off.

"We still want to go and do the job on Saturday," McGlynn said. "If we get that 45-point marker, which we targeted, that's it done and dusted, and if we win on Saturday, we get to 46. "We've got three games and we obviously want to get that as soon as possible, regardless of top six, bottom six, or anything.
