Jaguars post-free agency position review: Quarterbacks

Yahoo Sports

Following the initial free agency waves, let's review the current state of the quarterback position for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

With NFL free agency at a near standstill, we will be evaluating the current state of each Jacksonville Jaguars' position group, specifically, where things stand and whether or not more moves need to be made. Compared to the rest of the league, it's been a very quiet free agency period for the Jaguars . GM James Gladstone recently explained the reason behind that, and it has to do with the 2027 compensatory draft picks the Jaguars are projected to land.

I would also guess that the Jaguars' tight salary cap situation isn't helping things either in that regard. So the best avenue for addressing their remaining needs likely comes in the NFL draft, where the Jaguars have 11 picks -- including four in the top 100 -- and flexibility , allowing the board to dictate which direction they go at each selection. Up first in our review are the quarterbacks.

Jaguars' quarterbacks under contract Trevor Lawrence Nick Mullens Carter Bradley Free agency moves No additions or departures took place at quarterback for the Jaguars. What is the need at quarterback for the Jaguars? Obviously, the need here is quite low -- or even non-existent.

Now, perhaps Gladstone brings in a quarterback to compete with Bradley for the third spot on the depth chart, but if so, my guess is that it won't happen until undrafted free agency takes place following the conclusion of the NFL draft. It's also worth noting that the defensive coordinator, Anthony Campanile, raved last season about Bradley's ability to run the scout team offense, helping the Jacksonville defense prepare for the upcoming opponent each week. So Jacksonville could be content with Bradley as their third option off the practice squad.
