Former Alabama thrower Isaac Odugbesan has moved up the ranks in WWE. Now, the wrestler known as Oba Femi is ready to take on the biggest names.

As graduation was starting to approach, former Alabama thrower Isaac Odugbesan wasn't sure of his plans. That's when WWE approached him in August 2021, asking if he'd want to try out for the organization. Odugbesan was coming off a sweep of the SEC Indoor and Outdoor shot put titles during the 2021 season.

At the time, he had no plans or even goals of trying to make it in wrestling, even as he grew up a wrestling fan in Nigeria. “Wrestling is one of those things that ended up falling into my palm,” Odugbesan said. “I didn’t have goal and aspirations to be a wrestler as of January 2021.

” He went out to Las Vegas for the tryout, and that December, he was named to the first WWE Next-In-Line (NIL) class. He would take home the 2022 SEC Indoor title, winning every shot put competition he entered that season, before heading to the WWE. A fast climb to the top After graduation, Odugbesan started to learn the ropes and took on the stage name, Oba Femi.

He quickly climbed the charts in WWE's NXT series, winning the NXT North American Championship, becoming the youngest winner of that title in the process. Later, he became a two-time NXT champion before giving up the title and jumping to WWE's main roster earlier this year. Odugbesan credits being a wrestling fan when he was growing up to his early success in the sport.
