Seahawks fan chat: Who are John Schneider’s best, worst ever free agent signings?

Yahoo Sports

From Cliff Avril to Sam Darnold, John Schneider has made some brilliant free agent signings.

SEATTLE, WA - JANUARY 19: Cliff Avril #56 of the Seattle Seahawks strips the ball from Colin Kaepernick #7 of the San Francisco 49ers during the game at CenturyLink Field on January 19, 2014 in Seattle, Washington. The Seahawks defeated the 49ers 23-17 to win the NFC Championship. Since 2025’s offseason is damn near a cheat code with all of John’s big wins, we exempted that year and went from 2010-2024. This is what Bryce came up with, and we added some names along the way during the live broadcast: On the good side, I added Julian Love as one of Schneider’s best FA acquisitions, with Uchenna Nwosu in that second tier of really good signings but not quite among his very best. Jason Myers was another shout in the comments section for one of the best adds of the Schneider era.

The bad side includes Dre’Mont Jones (even though he’s actually played well elsewhere), Ed Dickson, Gerald Everett, and the infamous Ziggy Ansah disaster of 2019. Truthfully speaking, the list isn’t all that exhaustive for good or bad when you consider how infrequently the Seahawks dip into the free agency pool. For the sake of this open discussion, you CAN include all of the smash hits from 2025.

Sam Darnold, DeMarcus Lawrence, Cooper Kupp, and even Josh Jones sure as hell have made their mark on what was a Super Bowl winning team. Chat away! We might have missed a few names here and there when looking back on the major offseason signings made by the NFL’s reigning Executive of the Year .
