Dortmund's Kovač: No experiments for the rest of the season

Yahoo Sports

Borussia Dortmund's coach Niko Kovac removes his headphones after a TV interview ahead of the German Bundesliga soccer match between Borussia Dortmund and FC Augsburg at Signal Iduna Park. Bernd Thissen/dpa Borussia Dortmund will not be experimenting for the rest of the season despite looking comfortable in the Bundesliga top four and having gone out of the Champions League and German Cup. Second-placed Dortmund are nine points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayern with eight games left and eight points ahead of fourth spot in the race for the Champions League next season.

But Saturday's home game with SV Hamburg will not see significant tinkering from coach Niko Kovač. "I see no place for experimenting, we haven't achieved anything yet," he told a news conference on Thursday. "We must not be complacent.

" Dortmund are the best team in the second half of the Bundesliga campaign points-wise and the Croatian wants to keep it that way. Julian Brandt, Salih Özcan and Niklas Süle have been confirmed as leaving the club in June, but the coach will not deliberately omit them any earlier. "We have pre-season before next term to try something new.

There will be no experiments until the very end," he said.
