Photos from Thursday showed Goiania’s paddock entry completely underwater, raising immediate questions about whether the race could go ahead as planned. One team manager described the scene as “worrying” when teams first arrived, though organisers have since managed to get things under control.

Once conditions improved, a number of team bosses and riders took a walk around the circuit to check out both the layout and track surface. Both Davide Tardozzi and Pedro Acosta came away with similar opinions. He’ll be looking to build on his strong showing in Thailand, where he took the Sprint win and followed it up with a second-place finish on Sunday. Ducati’s Davide Tardozzi, meanwhile, has work to do after his team finished 16 seconds behind Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia in Buriram. Marc Marquez had been in the mix before a rear rim failure took away his podium chances.

With Goiania’s layout new to everyone and weather issues already making headlines, teams were cautious about what to expect. However, both Tardozzi and Acosta came away from their track walk with positive comments about the grip level. Speaking to AS in Goiania, Tardozzi said: “The asphalt has a lot of grip.

” Acosta shared similar thoughts: “The circuit is fine. It’s a bit strange and technical, but it’s fine. And the asphalt has grip, although it’s dirty, which will make things difficult for everyone.
