Chargers strike gold in Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft
NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah projects the Los Angeles Chargers to draft an offensive lineman with their first-round pick.
NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah projects the Chargers to draft Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane as the No. 22 overall pick. Jeremiah's latest mock draft delves into the first 32 picks , and he explains why the Chargers, in some ways, get lucky with theirs.
"The Chargers thank their lucky stars that their need on the interior matches up with the best player still available. Ioane would be their most talented guard," Jeremiah writes. At Penn State, Ioane established himself as a premier offensive guard in college football.
He climbed the ranks as he transformed from a three-star 2022 recruit to an All-American lineman and top NFL draft prospect. Ioane is currently projected as an early starter with a high floor. The Chargers have addressed the offensive line this spring in free agency by signing center Tyler Biadasz, guard Cole Strange, and retaining Trey Pipkins and Trevor Penning.
However, a majority of those signings appeared to be depth moves rather than solid starting options. As Jeremiah states, Ioane would be the Bolts' top guard, most likely on the left side. While the Chargers may not have broken the bank in free agency, it appears general manager Joe Hortiz will bolster the interior offensive line through the draft.
