Crochet declined joining Team USA this time around, but he could get another chance to represent the United States in 2028 at the Summer Olympics. The Summer Olympics take place in the middle of baseball season, so right now, players are not allowed to participate. However, many players have come out voicing their willingness to play if Major League Baseball would put the season on hold.

The NHL goes on a break to allow players to play in the Winter Olympics, and MLB could do the same. Crochet spoke on whether he would don the red, white and blue if that happened. “At the end of the day, we’re getting paid very handsomely to play for the Red Sox,” Crochet said Wednesday morning, per The Boston Globe's Tim Healey.

“And everyone is like, ‘He’s unpatriotic. ’ It’s not about that, man. It’s about you have a job and a sense of duty to this team.

I don’t feel as though I would have a sense of duty to compete in the Olympics. But I think that it would be really cool. ” The risk with participating in the World Baseball Classic is that it takes place during a crucial time of year for pitchers.
