Barcelona handed huge Joan Garcia boost after goalkeeper forced off against Newcastle

Early reports claimed that Garcia had suffered a calf injury and would miss the next few weeks.

However, Barcelona have now said he’s undergone tests and no injury has been detected. Garcia is therefore available to play on Sunday when Barca return to La Liga action againstRayo Vallecano in what will be a huge boost for the Catalans. The club said in a statement: “Following today’s tests, Joan Garcia has been cleared with no injury and will be available for selection.

Fermin Lopez revealed after the game that Hansi Flick had rewarded the players with a day of rest. The Catalans are then due back to work on Friday as they prepare for their final game before the international break.
