Barcelona handed huge Joan Garcia boost after goalkeeper forced off against Newcastle

Early reports claimed that Garcia had suffered a calf injury and would miss the next few weeks.

However, Barcelona have now said heโ€™s undergone tests and no injury has been detected. Garcia is therefore available to play on Sunday when Barca return to La Liga action againstRayo Vallecano in what will be a huge boost for the Catalans. The club said in a statement: โ€œFollowing todayโ€™s tests, Joan Garcia has been cleared with no injury and will be available for selection.

Fermin Lopez revealed after the game that Hansi Flick had rewarded the players with a day of rest. The Catalans are then due back to work on Friday as they prepare for their final game before the international break.
