Ridgway records second no-hitter of the year in Indiana State sweep

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The University of Evansville softball team put an end to their four-game losing streak, beating Indiana State in a double header Wednesday afternoon. In game one, the Purple Aces got off to a quick start with a Morgan Adams’ RBI in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.

Then in the bottom of the fourth, Jess Willsey launched a solo home run into center field to extend the lead to two. Late in the sixth, the gates opened UE scored six runs to run-rule the Sycamores 8-0. On defense, sophomore pitcher, Kate Ridgway was a bright spot striking out four batters, walking five, but holding Indiana State to zero hits.

It’s the second no-hitter of the season for Ridgway. Then in game two, the Aces bats were even hotter as they plated 10 runs on 10 hits to beat the Sycamores 10-2 in five innings. Evansville will be back in action at home Friday, March 20th for a double-header against Murray State.

First pitch for game one is set for 2:30 p. m. The games are expected to stream on ESPN Plus.
