Belmont hires Duke assistant as program's next head coach
Belmont has tabbed a current Duke assistant as their next head coach as they look to make the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2019.
The Belmont Bruins didn't look far too far in their head coaching search, as they've hired former Bruins star Evan Bradds, who's currently working as an assistant on Duke's staff. Bradds played at Belmont from 2013-2017, starting 98 of 129 games. As a senior, he averaged 20.
0 points and 8. 4 rebounds per game on 62. 3% shooting from the field on his way to being named the Ohio Valley Player of the Year — his second straight year claiming that honor.
Soon after his college basketball days came to a close, Bradds joined the coaching staff of the NBA G League's Maine Red Claws before being promoted in 2021 as an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics. He spent one season in that role before Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy, formerly an assistant alongside Bradds in Boston, hired him to his staff in 2022. He was with the Jazz until 2025, when Duke head coach Jon Scheyer hired him as an assistant coach.
