The goalkeeper had to be replaced by Wojciech Szczęsny and now looks set for a brief spell on the sidelines for Barcelona.

According to Javi Miguel at AS, Garcia will be out for “2 to 3 weeks due to a small tear in the calf of the left leg. ” The news is a blow but the injury does come at a good time. Barcelona play Rayo Vallecano next in La Liga but domestic competition then pauses for the international break.

Garcia could then potentially be fit when Barcelona return to action on April 4th against Atletico in La Liga. The two sides will then meet again in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie before Barcelona face Garcia’s former club Espanyol in La Liga and then head to Madrid for their second leg against Atletico.
