Playing fantasy golf on the Masters app this year ? One important question many will have is about the tiebreaker: How many total putts will be recorded by the field for the entire tournament? It's a good question, but one that's not easily answered outside of averages.

The 2026 Masters media guide does not provide total putts from prior Masters outside of champion Rory McIlroy's 111. The Masters winner averages around 114 putts per tournament, and McIlroy's 111 included an extra putt in a playoff hole as he fired an 11-under par 277 through 72 holes. Some internet trackers of the 2025 tournament say about 8,735 putts total were struck during the tournament, but again, The Masters tournament holds the number close to the vest.

Scottie Scheffler, 2024's winner, totaled 109 putts as he shot an 11-under par 277. There were 8,798 putts in 2024, per Golf Monthly . So far, 88 players have qualified for The Masters, with three tournaments remaining before the year's first major.

Should someone win one of the three tournaments that has not yet qualified, they would be added to the field. There's also a chance for someone not qualified to sneak inside the World Golf Ranking's Top 50 in the week prior to the tournament. How many putts will be made at the 2026 Masters?
