The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired another backup quarterback in a trade with the Carolina Panthers and it could very well have a domino effect.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter , the Eagles acquired quarterback Andy Dalton from the Panthers in exchange for a 2027 seventh-round pick. In the wake of that trade, the overwhelming belief is that the Eagles could turn around and trade fellow backup Tanner McKee. "Andy Dalton, 38, is entering Year 16 in the NFL.
He's under contract for $3. 9M next season... And this obviously puts the Eagles in a position to trade Tanner McKee, if there's an offer they like," The Athletic's Zach Berman wrote.
McKee has served as a backup for the Eagles for the past two seasons after being drafted in the sixth-round of the 2023 NFL draft. While McKee has had limited opportunities, he has shown enough in the preseason and regular season in that span to garner interest from some teams around the NFL, ESPN's Tim McManus wrote on Wednesday. Four teams that could have their eye on McKee are the Green Bay Packers , Minnesota Vikings , New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals .
