The Chargers are re-signing veteran safety Tony Jefferson to a 1-year deal.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Chargers are re-signing veteran safety Tony Jefferson to a one-year, $2 million deal to return for the 2026 season.

Jefferson is coming off one of the best seasons of his career while playing in just 13 games. He recorded a career-high four interceptions and seven pass breakups while posting an overall season grade by Pro Football Focus of 70. 3 (26th out of 98 qualifying safeties).

Before his productive 2025 season, the veteran had only four career interceptions in his previous 12 professional seasons before matching that mark at 33 years old and only two years after he initially wanted to call it quits on his career.
