HAZLETON — Devon Prep's record certainly didn't reflect the opponent that Lewisburg was getting in Tuesday night's PIAA Class 4A semifinal. Entering Tuesday, the Tide had just eight wins playing in the Philadelphia Catholic League, but the defending state champions are hitting their stride once again at the right time. John Doogan continued a strong state playoffs, scoring a career-high 29 points, and Devon Prep rolled to a 73-49 victory over the Green Dragons at Hazleton.

"They had a good scout on us, and they wanted to attack us before we got our defense set up," Lewisburg coach Leon Tucker said. "They did a great job of doing that. " Doogan was the main beneficiary as he hit his first 10 shots of the game — most on driving layups — and knocked down 13-of-15 overall.

The junior hadn't scored in double figures in the four previous games before the PIAA playoffs started, but now has 22, 22, 17 and 29 in his last four times on the court. The Tide (10-15) will face District 8 champion Obama Academy, a 52-51 winner over Carver Engineering & Science, in Thursday's championship game at 8 p. m.

in the Giant Center in Hershey. It certainly wasn't the way the Green Dragons wanted to end things, but Coach Tucker was quick to point out he was in no way disappointed in how Lewisburg's season wrapped up. "What they've accomplished this year, noother group at Lewisburg that's put on this uniform that's done the things this group as done," Tucker said.

Lewisburg entered 2026 at 5-4, and didn't lose in the new year until Tuesday night. Included in that 19-game winning streak — PHAC Tournament and District 4 championships and three PIAA playoff wins. "If you would have talked to me in December, and said you're not going to lose another game until March.
