The Philadelphia Phillies’ veteran has a unique clause that allows him to exit his contract just before Opening Day.

Though the team’s biggest moves were to hand out new contracts to Kyle Schwarber and JT Realmuto.

Now it seems their postseason fate will rely on pretty much the same group as it did last year. But on the peripheries of the roster, things will look different. The team dropped outfielder Nick Castellanos and brought in Adolis Garcia.

It traded away reliever Matt Strahm and brought in Brad Keller. And it is expected to promote top prospects Andrew Painter and Justin Crawford by Opening Day as well. “The last spot is between Dylan Moore and Bryan De La Cruz, although league sources said the Phillies continue to seek potential alternatives who might be cut from other camps,” Matt Gelb reported for The Athletic . “Both have hit the ball hard this spring; De La Cruz has more results to show. ” Though De La Cruz has had a stronger preseason so far and the Phillies might be looking to bring in an external bench player, there’s reason to believe Moore has an advantage in landing the final big-league roster spot before Opening Day.
