Rookie RB Shines, Surprises Saints With NFL Debut!

On Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints added another piece to their backfield when they signed running back Ty Chandler in free agency. Chandler, who turns 28 in May, has played with the Minnesota Vikings for all four years of his NFL career. Over that time, he has 710 yards rushing with a 3.
9 per carry average and 30 receptions for 212 yards. The best year of his career was 2023, when he had 461 yards rushing and another 159 receiving on 21 catches. Chandler missed all but three games last season with a knee injury.
He'd played in all 34 regular season games over the previous two seasons, but had just 460 offensive snaps over that span. Chandler also served as a part-time kick returner for the Vikings, averaging 25. 3 yards on 15 returns with a career long of 35 yards.
It's a role that he could fill with the Saints. Chandler signing grade: C- New Orleans went the last month of last season without Alvin Kamara, Devin Neal, and Kendre Miller in the backfield. That forced them to go with free agents recently signed off the street.
