Should Hubert Davis get a mulligan for this season without Caleb Wilson?
This upcoming NCAA Tournament feels like an extra important one for Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels as they prepare to face off against VCU on Thursday night . After being one of the teams in the First Four game last season and then losing to Ole Miss in the first round, the Tar Heels needed a bounce back year. Things started great.
The Tar Heels got off to a hot start before hitting a bump in the road on the West Coast in ACC play. But after that, they had some big injuries to Henri Veesaar and Caleb Wilson in a loss to Miami. While Veesaar returned, Wilson did not.
Instead, he would break his thumb during his potential return and is out for the rest of the year. Now, the Tar Heels enter the tournament without their favorite player and with questions about Davis' future , one analyst believes he could get a 'mulligan' this season. During a segment on The Field of 68, Dalen Cuff was asked if Hubert Davis gets a mulligan if UNC loses in the first round because he's without Wilson.
"Without a doubt. You can't appropriately evaluate him without a top five pick," Cuff said . "He brought the kid in, the kid is outstanding.
