On Tuesday, the Leafs announced the signing of Vincent Borgesi to a two-year, entry-level contract. Borgesi, a defenseman, just wrapped up his career at Northeastern University in the Boston area, where he played for four years. He was the captain at Northeastern and also nominated for the 2026 Hobey Baker Award.
This season, he scored five goals with 15 assists to total 20 points in 36 games for Northeastern. Borgesi got ample college experience, playing 135 NCAA games across four years. NHL prospect analyst Steven Ellis wrote this on X: "Vincent Borgesi is a small but skilled defenseman, one that many NHL teams seemed interested in.
Productive four years at Northeastern. Good skater, smart playmaker. Toronto's signing here is most likely about Marlies depth, but I like it.
